South of the River
When we head south of Perth, the scenery changes — and so does the adventure.
Our southern trips take us through some of Western Australia’s best 4WD country, from the forests and coastal tracks around Margaret River to the more remote and challenging terrain of the Captain Fawcett Track and the historic Holland Track.
There’s something for everyone. Some trips are relaxed weekends away with the family, while others are bigger adventures that put both you and your 4WD to the test.
Winter vs Summer
Winter in the south is a whole different experience. Think mud, rain, slippery tracks, swollen creek crossings and plenty of challenging conditions. It’s often when the tracks really come alive — but it’s also when good preparation, sensible driving and knowing your limits matter most.
Summer brings a completely different kind of 4WDing. Longer days, warmer weather, dusty tracks, beach runs and camping under the stars make it perfect for getting away for a few days.
And then there are the favourite camp spots — places like Sids Campground, where the driving can wind down and the social side of the trip kicks in. Good food, a few laughs, campfires and swapping stories around the rigs are all part of the experience.
Whether we’re exploring the forests around Margaret River, tackling the Captain Fawcett Track, heading across the Holland Track or settling in around the campfire, our southern adventures are about getting out there, doing it safely and enjoying WA with a great bunch of people.
Pack the 4WD. Bring the family. Pick a season.
There’s always another track to explore.
